Welcome to a new year, new YOU!
Hi! Welcome to my website! I hope you are learning some fun nutrition facts, and I hope to hear from you soon. Call me for the first step toward a new and better YOU! I look forward to helping you develop a new eating lifestyle designed specifically to meet your needs! Speaking of eating, you may have noticed all the different types of fruits on my website. You probably already know that fruit is packed full of nutrition, but below I have included some interesting things that you may not know about each of the fruits on my website! Enjoy and don’t forget to eat 5 fruits/vegetables everyday!
Apple:
An apple a day really can keep the doctor away. The apple peel is packed with an antioxidant called quercetin, which may help to reduce the spread and growth of cancer cells as well as promote heart health.
Orange:
Oranges are technically considered berries and are well known for their high levels of vitamin C, but oranges provide many more health-promoting nutrients including: potassium, folate, thiamin, magnesium, niacin, and even calcium!
Strawberries:
Strawberries may taste sweet, but with only 50 calories and less than 10g of sugar per cup, this is truly a guilt-free dessert! As an added bonus, 1 cup of strawberries provides more vitamin C than an orange!
Banana:
Lately bananas have gotten a bad rap because they have a higher sugar content than other fruits, but with potassium, B6, folate, magnesium, iron, and copper, you can’t find a more nutritious and portable 100 calorie snack!
Blueberries:
Known as a “superfood” blueberries have a higher antioxidant content than any other fruit in America. These antioxidants help to prevent free-radical damage, making blueberries helpful for preventing negative affects of aging such as memory loss, wrinkles, cancer, and heart disease.
Kiwi:
The kiwi was first discovered 700 years ago in China. Although ugly on the outside, its inner green beauty provides plenty of fiber, potassium, and vitamins E and C. Kiwi also contains Actinidin, an enzyme that acts as a natural meat tenderizer.
